Some people believe that a cigarette helps them to relax. And indeed after a cigarette they will indeed feel relaxed; but it isn't the cigarette that is responsible, how could a stimulant (nicotine) help you to relax? It is the expectation that a cigarette helps you to relax and deeper breaths that create the relaxed feeling.
So why Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a well proven method of retraining the unconscious mind and when you consider the unconscious mind, at some level, believes smoking is a good thing for you to do; you can see how powerful Hypnosis can be in reversing this thought process.
There are three main reasons why we smoke:
1 Addiction!
2 Habit!
3 Brainwashing!
Addiction:
Some say nicotine is one of the most addictive substances readily available to most people. Despite that people stop smoking easily and forever using Hypnosis and other methods. Fortunately, nicotine is easy to eliminate in the body. It usually takes somewhere between 6 to 10 days to rid the system of all traces of nicotine. Once all of the nicotine is removed from the body, so is all of the physical craving (but not the mental craving).
Habit:
I use multiple sessions in my smoking cessation therapy. Research suggests that, for most people, multiple sessions will help support you through that initial period of eliminating the body of nicotine. It also helps with habit reversal and the necessary retraining of the unconscious mind in relation to the smoking habit.
Brainwashing:
Smoking, worldwide, is a multi $billion industry; it is estimated that a lot of people make a very nice living from the misery of smokers! Needless to say that they have come up with some very ingenious ways to convince you that you do indeed want to smoke, even if you consciously say “I want to stop.“
So, if you say you want to stop then why don't you? Well, you do not smoke for conscious reasons; you smoke because your unconscious mind believes it to be a survival issue?
That's crazy, you say, I know it is killing me or it's a disgusting habit, it's costing me a fortune etc; well if that's true then why don't you just stop? You wouldn't put your hand on a hotplate twice, or would you? No of course not. In reality you smoke unconsciously, habitually and in a sense addictively.
One powerful message can stop you in an instant!
There are endless tales of people being told they have a limited amount of time to live, unless they stop smoking and this message is the one; powerful enough, to make them stop instantly!
There are many ways we can create a message in the mind that is more powerful than the one which YOU are now using to keep you Smoking; and Hypnosis is among the best of them!
But perhaps you have a more empowering reason to continue
It has become my belief that the reason many people find it difficult to quit smoking, is because of unresolved emotional issues or trauma. In such cases I believe that smoking allows us to feel safe or that we belong etc.
Of course consciously we will likely deny such a statement; right? Well explain why you engage in a habit that you know is seriously harming your health, damaging your wealth and even worse; perhaps the health of those around you that you love! The truth is you can’t because there is absolutely nothing about smoking that has any benefit to you. The only benefit to smoking is derived by those who make them, sell them and tax them!
In such cases it has proved effective to resolve the emotional issues and very often smoking is then easy to quit.
Now is the best time you’ll ever find to quit smoking; tomorrow is always a day away!

It is said that it takes somewhere in the region of 21 days to fully form a habit. I believe some habits are formed in minutes and repetition reinforces the behaviour. If you said "I love a cigarette after my morning coffee", don't be surprised if after your morning coffee you reach for the cigarette box. And in some cases wanting a cigarette can lead to putting the kettle on!
